What are Fresh Cut To Order Frags?

Cut To Order Frags are coral frags that have been recently or will be cut from the mother colony. They are typically positioned on a frag rack without a frag plug to start the healing process. I have many large coral colonies in my main tanks so I'm usually able to frag from these larger colonies.

Why buy a Fresh Cut To Order Frag?

Some hobbyist end up removing frags from the frag plugs and either remount them to their own frag plugs or directly to the rock structure. Rather than add additional stress to the coral by cutting and/or gluing it twice in a short amount of time, they can mount the healthy already healing frag themself.

Are Fresh Cut To Order Frags as healthy as ones mounted to plugs?

Yes. All my frags were Fresh Cut at some point and are all dipped in an iodine solution to inhibit infection and promote healing before going into the frag tank or back into the main tank .

Why Do I Have To Wait a Week?

Keeping the fresh cut frag in the exact same water it was growing in for a week or so helps reduce stress on the coral frag so it can begin to recover faster therefore increasing the likelihood of a successful transition to a new environment.
